AFTERCARE
When you get a new tattoo, aftercare is one of the most important steps!
Remember, the healing process varies from person to person and can take several weeks. Even if the tattoo appears healed on the surface, it may still feel uneven or look shiny. A tattoo is not truly permanent until it is fully healed, so it is your responsibility to take the best possible care of it.
THE FIRST DAYS:
1. After the tattoo is completed, a layer of plastic will be applied, which you should keep on for 3 hours. After these 3 hours, carefully remove the plastic and gently clean the tattoo.
2. Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the tattoo. Then carefully wash the tattoo using lukewarm water and FRAGRANCE-FREE SOAP, such as the one available at the studio.
3. Gently pat the area dry with a paper towel or a clean cloth.
4. Apply a thin layer of HUSTLE BUTTER, which is specially designed for tattoo aftercare. If you happen to run out of the Hustle Butter ointment provided by us, you can also use Bepanthen. Avoid using thick layers and other ointments as they may be too greasy, cause irritation, or in the worst case, lead to infection.
5. Clean the tattoo 3 times daily for 2 weeks.
6. Always ensure the tattoo stays clean, and be mindful of bacteria and dirt. Tattoos are especially vulnerable to infection during the healing process. Wear clean clothes and use fresh, clean bedding.
7. After the first 3 hours, you should not use plastic over the tattoo unless it is particularly exposed to dirt or friction (e.g., at work or during exercise). If necessary, use clean plastic and change it daily.
AVOID:
1. Scratching or picking at the scabs that form.
2. Direct sunlight or tanning beds during the first 3 weeks.
3. Swimming in pools, bathtubs, or the ocean during the first 3 weeks.
4. Tight clothing that may rub against the tattoo.
INFECTIONS AND INFLAMMATION:
Most infections occur because aftercare instructions are not followed properly. Proper aftercare is essential to ensure good healing and to prevent infections. Taking care of the tattoo early on is easier and more comfortable than dealing with an infection later. Be sure to follow these aftercare guidelines carefully from the start.
If you experience signs of infection, such as persistent pain, redness around the tattoo that spreads, or increasing swelling, you should contact a doctor for further treatment.
Take proper care of yourself and your tattoo to give it the attention it deserves.
